วัดทุ่งศรีวิไล ตั้งอยู่ที่บ้านชีทวน ตำบลชีทวน อำเภอเขื่องใน จังหวัด อุบลราชธานี ก่อสร้างเมื่อใดไม่ปรากฎ เนื่องจากเป็นวัดเก่าแก่ บริเวณของวัดนี้ มีใบเสมาหลายชั้นล้อมรอบอุโบสถและวิหารหลังเก่าเป็นชั้นๆ ถึงกำแพงรอบวัดทุกสารทิศ ตลอดทั้งมีสระน้ำใหญ่ พร้อมด้วยซากของหอไตรรวมธรรมาสน์ ซึ่งก่อด้วยอิฐสมัยก่อน สันนิษฐานว่า ที่ตั้งของวัดจะเป็นโนนนกเขียน (นานกเขียน) ตามประวัติอันยาวนาน และตำนานที่เล่าขานสืบต่อกันมาของชาวชีทวนที่ว่า “ทุ่งสามขา นานกเขียน เงินสามเกวียน อยู่ใต้ร่มพลับ”
หลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษ เป็นพระพุทธรูปหินศิลาแลง ปางนาคปรก ขนาดหน้าตักกว้าง 55 เซนติเมตร สูง 90 เซนติเมตร ยุคทวาราวดี มีอายุพันกว่าปีล่วงมาแล้ว ปัจจุบันประดิษฐานอยู่ในวิหารวัดทุ่งศรีวิไล บ้านชีทวน นับเป็นพระคู่บ้านคู่เมืองของชาวบ้านชีทวนและตำบลใกล้เคียง ถือว่าเป็นพระพุทธรูปที่มีความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ปาฏิหาริย์มาก ประชาชนชาวบ้านชีทวนและตำบลใกล้เคียงเมืองอุบลฯ ตลอดทั้งจังหวัดใกล้และไกล รวมสาธุชนชาวกรุงเทพมหานคร ต่างก็เลื่อมใสศรัทธาในองค์หลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษ ได้พากันนำดอกไม้ธูปเทียนมาสักการบูชามิได้ขาด เพื่อขอพรให้หลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษปกป้องคุ้มครองรักษา ให้ประสบความสำเร็จในสิ่งที่ปรารถนาชีวิตครอบครัว พร้อมด้วยบุตร-ธิดา และญาติพี่น้องของตน ทั้งที่อยู่ในต่างจังหวัดและต่างประเทศให้ประสบความเจริญยิ่งๆ ขึ้นไป ความศักดิ์สิทธิ์และอิทธิปาฏิหาริย์ของหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษมีอยู่มากมายเป็นที่เลื่องลือขจรขจายไปทั่วภาคอีสานและกรุงเทพฯ
ความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษเป็นส่วนสำคัญประการหนึ่งที่ทำให้เจ้านายและเชื้อพระวงศ์ชั้นสูง ตลอดทั้งข้าหลวงต่างพระองค์มาสักการบูชาหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษอยู่เป็นนิตย์ ในสมัยก่อนโน้นและปัจจุบันนี้ก็มีญาติโยมขอบุตรธิดาไว้สืบสกุลก็ได้สำเร็จอยู่เป็นอันมาก ทั้งต่างจังหวัดและกรุงเทพฯ ด้วยเหตุดังกล่าว ความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษจึงเลื่องลือขจรขจายไปอย่างกว้างขวาง จนถึงต่างบ้านต่างเมืองด้วย

นอกจากนี้แล้ววันเพ็ญเดือน 5 ของทุกปี ประชาชนชาวบ้านชีทวนและบ้านใกล้เคียงจะร่วมมือกันจัดงานสมโภชเฉลิมฉลองหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษ เป็นเวลา 3 วัน 3 คืน (วันขึ้น 14,15 ค่ำ และแรม 1 ค่ำ เดือน 5) เป็นประจำทุกปี ซึ่งเรียกว่า “งานปิดทองหลวงพ่อพุทธวิเศษประจำปี”
ในส่วนที่เกี่ยวกับวัดในหมู่บ้านชีทวน ซึ่งเป็นหมู่บ้านที่เก่าแก่เดิมชื่อว่า “ซีซ่วน” หรือ “เมืองซีซ่วน” มีวัดอยู่ 4 วัด และ 1 สำนักสงฆ์ คือ วัดทุ่งศรีวิไล,วัดธาตุสวนตาล, วัดศรีธาตุ, วัดศรีนวล และสำนักสงฆ์บูรพาราม ครั้งก่อนเคยเป็นที่พระอาจารย์เสาร์ กันตะสีโล และพระอาจารย์มั่น ภูริทัตโต มาปฏิบัติธรรม ณ ที่แห่งนี้ ปัจจุบันนี้ สำนักสงฆ์บูรพา ได้ยุบไปแล้ว
ณ บริเวณของวัดทุ่งศรีวิไล มีใบเสมาหลายชั้นล้อมรอบอุโบสถและวิหารหลังเก่าเป็นชั้นๆ ถึงกำแพงรอบวัดทุกทิศตลอดทั้งสระน้ำใหญ่ พร้อมด้วยซากของหอไตร รวมธรรมาสน์ซึ่งก่อด้วยอิฐในสมัยนั้น และยังมีสิ่งของอีกมากมาย ดังเห็นปรากฏอยู่ในปัจจุบันนี้ และยังเป็นปริศนาเล่าลือกันต่อมาว่า “ทุ่งสามขา นานกเขียน เงินสามเกวียน อยู่ใต้ร่มมะพลับ”
ประชาชนต่างถิ่นได้หลั่งไหลมาสักการบูชาอยู่มิได้ขาด มีเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับความศักดิสิทธิ์ของหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษมากมาย สมัยก่อนโน้นในเวลามีผู้เจ็บป่วยหรือมีเรื่องทุกข์ร้อน บรรดาญาติพี่น้องก็จะนำดอกไม้ธูปเทียนแผ่นทองเปลวไปสักการบูชาและบนขอให้หายจากอาการป่วย ซึ่งก็ปรากฏว่าได้ผลดีอยู่มากมายนอกจากนี้ ถ้าหากว่าใครเจ็บไข้ตรงไหนของร่างกาย ญาติพี่น้องของคนป่วยก็จะแนะนำให้นำแผ่นทองเปลวไปติดตรงส่วนต่างๆ บนองค์พระพุทธวิเศษ เช่น แขนหักก็ปิดทองที่แขนของหลวงพ่อฯ เจ็บหน้าอกปิดทองที่หน้าอก เป็นต้น และถือสืบต่อมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
ในบางครั้ง คนที่แต่งงานมีครอบครัวมานานแล้วแต่ไม่มีบุตรธิดา สามีภรรยาก็จะพากันมานมัสการหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษ เพื่อบนบานศาลกล่าวให้มีบุตร-ธิดา ไว้สืบสกุล ก็ปรากฏว่าเป็นผลสำเร็จมากมาย ดังจะได้เห็นจากเมืองอุบลฯ ในอดีต คือกรมหลวงสรรพสิทธิประสงค์ ข้าพระองค์สำเร็จราชการในมณฑลอีสานประทับที่เมืองอุบลฯ ได้ทรงขอหม่อมเจียงคำมาเป็นชายา แต่ก็ไม่มีพระโอรสหรือพระธิดา คราวครึ่งเมื่อกรมหลวงสรรสิทธิประสงค์ เสด็จออกไปเยี่ยมไพร่ฟ้าประชาชนตามหัวเมืองต่างๆ และได้ผ่านบ้านชีทวน และได้ทราบข่าวว่าที่บ้านชีทวนมีพระพุทธศักดิ์สิทธิ์ คือหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษ สามารถที่จะบนหรือขอสิ่งที่ปรารถนานั้นได้ กรมหลวงสรรพสิทธิประสงค์พร้อมกับหม่อมเจียงคำ ก็ทรงนำดอกไม้ธูปเทียนทองไปสักการบูชาขอพระโอรสและธิดาจากหลวงพ่อพระพุทธวิเศษ ต่อมาไม่นานหม่อมเจียงคำก็ทรงพระครรภ์ และได้ประสูติพระโอรสและพระธิดา 2 พระองค์ ตามความปรารถนา คือหม่อมเจ้าอุปลีสานและหม่อมเจ้ากมลีสาน
