วัดพระธาตุหนองบัว หรือ วัดหนองบัว เป็นหนึ่งในวัดดังของเมืองอุบลฯ ที่นักท่องเที่ยวให้ความสนใจและเดินมาเที่ยวเป็นจำนวนมาก เพราะที่นี่โดดเด่นด้วยสถาปัตยกรรมของ พระธาตุเจดีย์ศรีมหาโพธิ์ ที่เดิมมีรูปแบบจำลองแบบมาจากเจดีย์พุทธคยาในอินเดีย
ต่อมาได้สร้างพระธาตุองค์ใหม่ครอบพระธาตุองค์เดิมไว้ โดยพระธาตุองค์ใหม่นั้นมีสีขาว ตกแต่งอย่างสวยงามด้วยลวดลายสีทองอย่างวิจิตร ส่วนพื้นผิวขององค์เจดีย์ก็ออกแบบด้วยภาพนูนต่ำบอกเล่าเรื่องเราเกี่ยวกับพระพุทธเจ้า ความเชื่อความศรัทธาเกี่ยวกับพญานาค ครุฑและยักษ์ นอกจากนี้ภายในบริเวณวัดยังเต็มไปด้วยต้นไม้ใหญ่ที่ให้ความร่มรื่น แถมตัวพระอุโบสถ์และศาลาการเปรียญของวัดก็ยังมีรูปแบบการตกแต่งที่สวยงามไม่แพ้ลวดลายของเจดีย์เลยอีกด้วย
