เมื่อเวลา 07.00 น. วันนี้ (29 พ.ค.) ที่หน้าวัดมหาธาตุ บริเวณริมฝั่งแม่น้ำโขงถนนสุนทรวิจิตร ในเขตเทศบาลเมืองนครพนม นายสมชาย วิทย์ดำรงค์ ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดนครพนม เป็นประธานนำพุทธศาสนิกชน ทหาร ตำรวจ ประชาชน นักเรียน นักศึกษา นักท่องเที่ยว นับ 1,000 คน เพื่อเป็นการสืบสานประเพณีอนุรักษ์ขนบธรรมเนียมวัฒนธรรมประเพณีอันดีงามของชาวพุทธ รวมถึงส่งเสริมปลูกจิตสำนึกให้ประชาชน ลูกหลานเยาวชน นักเรียน นักศึกษา อยู่ในศีลธรรมอันดีงาม
โดยตลอดทั้งวันตามวัดสำคัญต่างๆ ของ จ.นครพนม ต่างจัดกิจกรรมส่งเสริมพระพุทธศาสนา นำประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยว ทำบุญ โดยเฉพาะวัดพระธาตุพนมวรมหาวิหาร อ.ธาตุพนม ที่ตั้งขององค์พระธาตุพนม สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์คู่บ้านคู่เมือง จะมีการนำพุทธศาสนิกชนทำบุญ เวียนเทียน ฟังพระธรรมเทศนา ซึ่งทุกปีจะมีประชาชน นักท่องเที่ยว เดินทางเข้ามาทำบุญ จำนวนมาก ส่งผลดีต่อภาคเศรษฐกิจ การค้า การท่องเที่ยว
