ดร.ณัฐพล ณัฎฐสมบูรณ์ อธิบดีกรมอุตุนิยมวิทยา เปิดเผยเรื่องการติดตามหย่อมความกดอากาศต่ำกำลังแรงบริเวณทะเลจีนใต้ตอนกลางมีแนวโน้มที่จะทวีกำลังแรงขึ้น และเคลื่อนตัวเข้าใกล้เกาะไหหลำ ประเทศจีน ว่า ในวันนี้จะมีการพัฒนาเป็นดีเปรสชันและมีแนวโน้มที่จะพัฒนาเป็นพายุโซนร้อนต่อไป ซึ่งพายุลูกนี้ หลายคนระบุว่าชื่อ ไลออนร็อค พายุลูกที่ 17 แต่กรมอุตุนิยมวิทยายังไม่ขอให้ชื่อในตอนนี้ จะให้ชื่อได้เมื่อเป็นพายุโซนร้อน เมื่อพายุขึ้นไปทางเกาะไหหลำของจีน จากนั้นจะเคลื่อนไปที่อ่าวตังเกี๋ย ของเวียดนาม คาดว่าเมื่อไปเจอกับความกดอากาศสูง จะไปลดความแรงของพายุและจะเริ่มอ่อนกำลัง เมื่อขึ้นฝั่งที่เวียดนาม ความรุนแรงจะลดลง กลายเป็นหย่อมความกดอากาศต่ำส่งผลกับประเทศไทย เนื่องจากนำความชื้นเข้ามา ขอให้จังหวัดในพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบน เตรียมความพร้อมเนื่องจากจะได้รับผลกระทบมีฝนตั้งแต่ช่วงบ่ายวันที่ 11 ต.ค.64 ต่อเนื่องวันที่ 12 ต.ค.64 รวมถึงจะมีอิทธิพลโยงเข้ากับร่องมรสุมทางตอนกลางของประเทศ ทำให้พื้นที่ภาคกลางตอนล่าง ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนล่าง ภาคตะวันออก ภาคใต้ตอนบน กรุงเทพฯและปริมณฑล ได้รับอิทธิพลจากพายุลูกนี้ด้วย
ส่วนพายุลูกที่ 18 อยู่บริเวณเหนือเกาะลูซอน ประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ กรมอุตุนิยมวิทยา ติดตามดูอยู่แล้ว มีแนวโน้มจะกระทบไทยตั้งแต่วันที่ 13-15 ต.ค.64 พายุลูกนี้จะดึงความชื้นในทะเลอันดามัน ทำให้พายุลูกนี้มีความแรงขึ้น ทำให้มีฝนตกหนักต่อเนื่อง แต่อาจจะสลายตัวก็ได้ ต้องติดตามการเคลื่อนตัวอย่างต่อเนื่อง และในช่วงหลังกลางเดือน ต.ค. 64 แนวร่องมรสุมก็จะพาดผ่านลงมาทางภาคใต้ ซึ่งช่วงนี้เป็นช่วงข้างขึ้น น้ำทะเลค่อนข้างจะหนุนขึ้นสูง จะมีปัญหาการระบายน้ำค่อนข้างหนัก แม่น้ำหลายสายคงจะต้องระบายน้ำให้มากขึ้น ถ้ามีจังหวะระบายได้ เช่น แม่น้ำท่าจีน ยังระบายช่วยได้ไม่ดีนัก เพราะน้ำที่ต้องระบายมีอยู่ 4,000 ล้านลบ.ม. มีปริมาณมากพอสมควร ฝากประชาชนริมน้ำ ยกของขึ้นที่สูงเตรียมรับมือสถานการณ์ไว้ก่อน
